Karen Detmer is a minor yet important character of the 2012 film Chronicle.
She is Andrew's mother who was suffering from cancer. She is portrayed by Bo Petersen.
She was constantly having pains and couldn't breathe much. Her husband Richard abused Andrew and she was glad that Andrew spent some time with his friends. But she later dies and causes Richard to snap at Andrew. But Andrew almost throws him off of an exploded hospital only to be saved by Matt.
